Using a digital road works sign, popular science and an imaginary dog called Jerry, Downtown attempts to understand how we effect and affect each other in public space. Given the increasing popularity of virtual social networking spaces, and the impact these virtual spaces have on community globally, Downtown attempts to bring it back to the local – real bodies sharing real spaces in the same time zone. Over a two-week period Rosie walks the streets of a city collecting anecdotal stories about the multiple ways people interact with each other in public spaces. Each evening she recounts stories and shares highlights from her day while simultaneously expose the process of making a live performance. The performance grows by 5-minutes in length each day, culminating in a full-length performance with a local community choir. Told with Dennis’s trademark wry humour this is a made-to-measure performance for each city. PRESENTED |
